Winter 08 The New Olympians

From the jet-set haunts of the Alps, to the wild Drakensburg peaks, a new generation play, romance and dream above the clouds. Craig Port’s autumn/winter collection takes you to the playground of the New Olympians: the precariously nestled snow-fields high-up on mountainous slopes that cut through the weather and the grid of civilisation.

Taking inspiration from the high-altitude hideaways and alpine villages where the urban players finally come to rest after the year’s toil ceases, New Olympians takes Port’s classic resort wear and finds it a natural winter resting place: the coastal haunts of summer have been exchanged for the winter luxury and cold pure air of the high-fliers mountain retreats.

The winter sports of the pistes give a hi-tech athletic feel to much of the collection: bold, blocks of colour inspired by performance wear merge with Craig’s classic tailoring and modern vision. As day slips into evening structured suits, in the spirit of après ski, take the collection into the night. Playful elements such as leather trims embellish to give the collection a subtle alpine atmosphere.

The collection is designed in layers to move easily from cold mornings through to warmer days and then back as the evening temperature plummets. Slim-fit puffa jackets, zip through tops and lightweight performance fabrics are designed to be worn in different combinations as the temperature fluctuates.

Woollen beanies and scarves complement the winter sports direction. A selection of constructivist belt buckle designs brings geometric and electro elements to the winter 07 look.

The collection also includes the launch of The Craig Port Designer Collection for Galaxy & Co: a limited edition range of men’s jewellery that will be available from selected Galaxy & Co stores for autumn/winter 2007.
